I am a woman in the music industry. Over the years, people have told me: what my music needed to sound like; how I had to look a certain way; what I needed to wear on stage/camera; not to worry about the “technical stuff”; just try to look “pretty” and sing. Guess what - NONE of that made me happy. It made me feel like I was suffocating and day-by-day I was losing my confidence as an artist and more importantly as a human being.
