5 things I’d tell my 20-Year Old Self

“If I only knew then what I know now" – I remember hearing that countless times when I was younger. Funny thing is, now as an adult - I get it. I don't have a machine to go back in time but if I did – Here are 5 things I’d tell my 20-Year Old Self.

  1. Celebrate your uniqueness. You will spend too much time trying to hide or mask all of your unique qualities – trying desperately to fit in. Stop doing that! What makes you unique is what will help build your confidence! Find your unique qualities, celebrate them and most importantly let them shine.

  2. Focus on what makes YOU happy. You will get caught up worrying about everyone else’s happiness without really trying to discover what will make you truly happy. Fact of the matter is - you can’t make everyone happy no matter how hard you try. Start with yourself first – take time to discover what your happiness looks like. Truth be told – it’s not an easy one to do and may take some time to master!

  3. Mistakes are learning lessons - NOT mistakes. Don’t be hard on yourself. You are human after all. You will spend so much time focusing on the negative and not look at what the learning opportunity was. Welcome your mistakes – I mean learning lessons! It’s the best way to grow!

  4. You don't know if you don't try. I know, the unknown is very scary, and the thought of trying something new can terrify you – especially if you are not certain of what that outcome will be. Trust me – you need to try something at least once before deciding on it! Once you face it - you realize it isn't that bad. Try. What's the worse that can happen? You may end up learning something new!

  5. Great things truly do come from outside your comfort zone. When you try new things that are completely out of your comfort zone, you grow as a person. You learn, develop and master a new skill! So take more risks and try to live by this motto as you grow!

Happy Thursday!

xoxo
